DesktopX in detail
DesktopX is designed to be used by all users, not just power users. It has focused its features on the kinds of

Objects - DesktopX supports desktop objects. Objects can be live data or just images. They run as part of the
DesktopX environment. Widgets can also be imported as objects and run as part of a single environment

Widgets - DesktopX objects can be exported as mini-applications called widgets. Widgets are similar to objects
except they are actual programs (.EXEs) that run in their own memory space.  Widgets do not require DesktopX
to be running to be used but require DesktopX to be installed.

IconDeveloper 1.20 Professional

IconDeveloper is a program that makes it very easy to create your own Windows icons. Intead of trying to
include a drawing package, IconDeveloper instead allows users to just import images made by other programs
and turn them quickly and easily into icons. 

IconDeveloper also makes it easy to change the colors of icons, do batch conversions, and add new sizes to
existing icons using a variety of scaling techniques to ensure the highest possible quality.

IconDeveloper can also incorporate itself into the Windows shell allowing users to simply right click on a graphics
image and turn it into a Windows icon (.ICO file). It can edit both .ICO files and .ICL files and supports any
size icon you choose to create.

processing (turn a bunch of images into an icon at once or change the color of an entire library of icons to

IconPackager 3.00a Enhanced

The world's best, easiest way to change the icons on Microsoft Windows!
IconPackager is a program that allows users to change nearly all of their Windows icons at once by applying
"packages" of icons. A package of icons contains icons to replace most of the common icons on your Windows PC.

What makes IconPackager special is that unlike Microsoft's themes which only change a few icons, IconPackager
changes hundreds of icons.  Everything from "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", Folders, all the way to specific file
format icons such as .doc and .xls files and any other file type a user wishes to use.

Want your icons to look similar to icons on another operating system? No problem they're out there. 

Making your own icon packages
You don't have to rely on icon packages made by others either, creating your own icon packages is very easy.
You can click on the "Icons and Cursors" toolbar item and drag and drop the replacement icons right in there.

Or you can go to theView->Package Builder which will bring up a sheet of every icon type on your system. From
there, simply drag and drop your own icons on there to create your own package. Once done, you can save
your package for later use.

Icon Explorer

IconPackager also includes Icon Explorer. It is designed to make it easy to navigate through libraries of icons
and view them easily in different sizes and formats so that you can get an idea of how an icon looks and decide
if it's one you would want to use.

-The enhanced registered version has even more features. For example, shell integration is added with the
enhanced version. This allows users browsing through their system to right click on any file and go to the
added "Icon" tab and change the icon. This even works on executables (there are other programs that can

BootSkin

Stardock BootSkin is a program that allows users to change their Windows 2000 and Windows XP boot screens. 

Unlike other programs that can change the Windows XP boot screens, BootSkin does so in a safe manner. It doesn't
patch the Windows XP kernel. Nor does it require the user to download replacement Windows XP kernels to do so.

Boot screens that use BootSkin are typically under 20K compared to other boot screen programs whose files are
